How To Properly Store Alliance Gator Products

As winter temperatures drop, proper product storage becomes more important than ever. Each year, we see issues caused by improper storage during freezing conditions. To help prevent frozen, damaged, or compromised materials from reaching job sites, we’ve created clear storage guidelines for Alliance Gator products. These guidelines are especially critical during extreme weather conditions.

Below is a breakdown of how to properly store Alliance Gator products to maintain quality, performance, and warranty compliance.

Why Winter Storage Matters

Alliance Gator products are engineered for durability and performance—but temperature extremes can permanently damage certain materials, especially liquids and water-based products.

Freezing temperatures can cause:

  • Product separation or crystallization

  • Changes in viscosity or curing performance

  • Container damage or leakage

  • Reduced or failed product performance after installation

Once certain products have froze, they can become irreversibly damaged, even after later thawing out.

✅ Products Approved for Outdoor Storage

Use the infographic above as a quick reference, and follow the detailed guidelines below when storing products during cold weather.

These materials are designed to withstand outdoor conditions, including cold temperatures:

  • Polymeric Sand / Dust

  • Gator Nitro & Nitro-X

  • X4 Edge, Rigid Edge, Flex Edge

  • Gator Base

  • Gator Xturf

Best practices:

  • Keep products sealed and off the ground when possible

  • Protect from standing water and excessive moisture

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, even in winter

🏠 Products Requiring Indoor Storage

These products must be stored indoors to protect performance and shelf life:

  • Xtreme Edge

  • Adhesives

  • Solvent-Based Sealers

  • Nails

  • Fabric / Grid

  • Infill Sand

  • Seam Tape

Important: While these products do not require temperature-controlled environments, they should be kept dry, covered, and out of direct weather exposure.

🌡️ Products Requiring Indoor, Dry & Temperature-Controlled Storage

These products are highly sensitive to extreme temperatures and must be stored in climate-controlled conditions:

  • Stone Bond

  • Cleaners

  • Water-Based Sealers

Critical winter rule:

👉 Water-based products should NEVER be allowed to freeze.
Freezing will permanently damage the product and render it unusable.

⚠️ Important Winter Storage Notes

  • Some product packaging may degrade when exposed to direct sunlight, extreme heat, humidity, or water

  • Gator Nitro and Solvent-Based Sealers should NEVER be stored in direct sun or exposed to temperatures above 120°F

  • Water-based products should NEVER be stored below freezing temperatures—even temporarily

  • Distributors and dealers are responsible for ensuring proper storage before, during, and after delivery

Shared Responsibility Across the Supply Chain

Alliance Gator products can pass through multiple hands before reaching the job site. Proper winter storage is a shared responsibility between:

  • Master distributors

  • Dealers

  • Contractors

  • Installers

Ensuring correct storage at every stage helps job site failures and unnecessary product loss.
